Recycled cartridges from mechanical departure boards of the airport Köln-Bonn are combined to form rows of numbers. Encased into solid colored Acrystal-housings, each object has a motion detector.
Thus, passer by’s activate a modification of numbers.
The so caused discrete and overlapping rattle of variable duration generates a soft music.
The mechanical departure boards stem from a time, when taking an airplane was something special. They remind us of the human impact and especially how our energy intensive way of living effects planet earth.
The work leaves room for speculation about what it is that RUN counts. Passer-by’s are invited to freely associate and possibly make connections to their own lifestyle.
